It's
the moment we fear the most, making that call to
a new potential partner. When you first start doing
this you feel vulnerable, incompetent, and weak.
You are unsure of yourself; what is it you are
supposed to say ... even if you have been practicing
your script. It is the moment of truth ... the
first 30 seconds of your new relationship ... how
is it going to end?
For
so many entering the Home Business marketplace,
fear of the phone is perhaps the #1 business
killer there is. It is uncomfortable at first,
and it takes literally hundreds of calls to become
comfortable with talking to strangers, forging
a new relationship in mere minutes.
As
the old MLM saying goes, make a 100 calls a day
for a year and you won't have to anymore. I believe
that is true. I also believe that 99.999999% of
people will not withstand rejection that long and
stay in the game to discovery if it is true. We
need to start experiencing some success, in the
near future, or we will lose interest. After all,
we are only human. We expect results, microwave
results in many cases. Yet the Truth is that you
are going to have to learn some new skills, conversation
skills, if you are going to find success. And you
are either going to learn them through trial and
error, sweat and blood; or you won't learn them,
and be back at that job soon.
Marketing
Home Business opportunities is a different animal.
Yet it can be hugely profitable if you learn the
game, how to create new friends and relationships
quickly. Sure your marketing is important, but
you can have all of the leads you can imagine,
and if you don't know what to say, it won't matter.
I
have encountered some great marketers in Home Based
Direct Sales that had zero people skills. Because
of their marketing they got to talk to many many
people. Yet the only marketer's I have met that
can succeed with price points north of $1,000 are
those that have people skills ... period ... end
of story. A stranger is not going to pull out their
credit card and send you $1, 695 without knowing
who you are; if you are legit, if the business/product
is legitimate.
Your
primary role on the phone is to be that living
breathing testimonial for your opportunity, for
your products. Yet so many people stumble and fumble
on the phone to the point where they block the
view of their prospects of what it is they are
representing. When you blow up a conversation what
you are telling your potential customer is that "what
I have can't be that good because I can't even
speak intelligently about it".
A
couple of important points need to be made here
...
Point
#1 ... You see, new Home Business entrepreneurs
typically turn themselves into the worst salesperson
they have ever met when they first start out marketing
their opportunity. We all have an internal blueprint
of what a salesperson is, and what they do. And
when we first start to engage in sales activity
for the first time, guess who shows up in our place,
this monster of a sales person that is buried in
us. And by the way, no one wants to do business
with that sales person. Not even you!
Point
#2 ... Marketing Home Business opportunities has
little or nothing to do with selling, at least
not in the classical sense. Every aspiring Entrepreneur
want's ownership over their decision, not to feel
bullied into it. Besides, if you bully someone
into signing up with you, you will have to bully
them every day until they quit the program.
Point
#3 ... the same goes for trying to convince someone
about your opportunity. Sure, with enough sugar
on top, and enough bending of the truth, you can
convince people to enroll in your enterprise. The
only problem then becomes that you will have to
convince them every day until they leave, very
unhappy, and feeling very disenfranchised.
Having
dissatisfied customers is no way to build a long
lasting robust business. So what is the
alternative? How do we get to where we are actually
attracting the right people into our business,
and then how do we help them?
I
remember when I was marketing my first opportunity.
For my first month I called and called, tried to
sell and sell. I was doing my own Internet marketing
and I kept thinking that the leads I was generating
were no good. After 7 weeks of calling and calling
I finally figured out what the gig really was;
after generating over 250 pay per click leads that
is at $15 - $20 a pop (ouch!).
Then
something very revealing occurred over the first
year in that business. I actually ended up enrolled
10 out of my first 100 leads; the leads that I
thought were no good. What was the lesson? I was
no good at the time, not the leads. The very people
that had hung up on me, called me names, and told
me they weren't interested became my prosperity
partners over time. Hmmm. Very Interesting.
Over
the year plus that has passed I have helped hundreds
of people in the early days of their enterprise.
The most disappointing thing I have observed is
people giving up too easily. Sure they had the
dream of prosperity, but they would not give themselves
the time to grow and learn. They were looking for
microwave results. I don't know about you, but
I don't know of too many Fortune 500 company CEO's
that became CEO within 60 days of graduating from
college. There are a handfull of exceptions; a
few of today's great entrepreneurs that never even
finished college (see Bill Gates).
As
for so many of my clients, I later learned
they had changed companies, started doing very
well, and were actually grateful for the training
and support I had provided. All in all I learned
that a significant number of my students went on
to find success ... just not in that program. That
particular program WAS a very difficult sale indeed.
Yet those that mastered it can probably sell anything.
I
left that program in February 2007, to get involved
with launching LP Unlimited. I know what opportunity
is, and LP Unlimited is Opportunity with a super
sized O. But more importantly, LP Unlimited has
all of the components of success training built
in through the products, the community, and the
company training program.
LP

that I have used a system very similar to it to

about helping others. You see, these skills I'm
learning can be mis-used by the wrong people. I
have been entrusted with the skills, and I have
no intention of placing these skills in the hands
of those that do not posses the same ethical standards
that I do. (more on this later)
When
I enrolled in that program, I told the person that
was "selling me" on it what I wanted to get out
of it. I wanted to be able to produce 3 times the
result with 1/4 of the effort; a lofty goal no
doubt. So I have been attending the weekly emersion
webinars and studying and practicing very hard.
I have to admit that I felt like I was back in
Kindergarden when I first started learning these
techniques.
Last
month I took a look at my financial results closely.
I was astonished. I have been tracking the amount
of time that I have actually been on the phone,
and admittedly I have not been on the phone as
much as I would normally be as I have been focusing
on creating new marketing campaigns and support
products for my LP Unlimited business. Low and
behold what I saw blew me away. I ended the month
with over $90K in gross sales and I might have
been spending 1 maybe 2 hours, 4 days a week on
the phone. At most 10 hours in a week. It used
to take me 40 hours a week on the phone to produce
that kind of result.
Now
I'm chomping at the bit to get back on the phone
40 hours a week as we enter the busy time of the
year as 4 times the result with 4 times the effort
... you get the picture. One of my mentors believes
I will be the first person in Direct Sales network
marketing to eclipse the $1,000,000 per month barrier.
We'll see, I do believe it is possible with the
LP Unlimited Program.
Long
before Michael Oliver was introduced as the official
company trainer for LP Unlimited, I was already
on my way to creating a new relationship building
system for use in this industry, a combination
of the many strategies that I have learned. Michael
Oliver is a blessing as his Natural Selling system
is the very best conversation system I have seen

building system works like a well oiled machine.

in total truth. No tricks, no deception, no special

right? Well you can't see this person. What is
it that triggers you to open up? Is it something
they say ... or how they say it?
So
many of the current prospecting training system
focus on what to say? And yes you do need to know
what to say. Yet when you truly know how to say
it, how to sound when you open your conversations,
you will not have to say too much. You will be
able to get right to the point, finding out what
it is that your potential partner wants, how badly
they want it, are they qualified to use the LP
Unlimited vehicle to get it, and then ultimately
inspire them to take the next step. All within
mere minutes from the first hello.
In
fact, it has been my observation that a call is
won or lost in the first 15 - 30 seconds. AFter
all, you cannot make a first impression more than
1 time, right? And first impressions are perception,
and perception is reality for your customers. Direct
Sales and really all selling type of businesses
are first call businesses. Again, you never get
another change to make a first impression. So can
you see the value in having these advanced relationship
building skills?
What
