Confessions of a 7 Figure Earner
So
many people in the arena of Marketing speak in
terms of Guerilla Marketing. Guerilla marketing
is about domination, overwhelming the competition,
becomming a very visible player. It is a great
idea yet for most entrepreneurs new to the world
of Internet Marketing, it costs way to much to
go from zero to domination in a short period of
time. What is needed is precision and targeting
so you can more effectively use your advertising
dollars.
When
I started my first Home Based Business in December
2004, I had no idea that there was such a thing
as a lead company. You see my mentor in that program
treated me as a threat/competitor from day 1.
As a result, he didn’t
really teach me too much.
When
I spent the first 6 weeks calling and calling
people to no avail, he simply said to do more
of it offering no coaching or advice on what
I might need to change or improve, to increase
my results. I did finally figure it out, on my
own, and went on to become top earner in that
program, averaging over 7 figures per year during
my stay in the program. These
were the largest documented results in the 2up/direct
sales arena during this time period.
Since
I did not know of any lead companies when I got
started, the only way I was going to build my
business was through direct advertising. Google
Adwords seemed like a good solution for that
so I spent almost a month doing little more than
reading e-books, making very expensive mistakes,
and finding mostly the wrong people. The whole
process cost me over $6,000 in "learning
curve",
wasted advertising dollars. This was a very painful
lesson indeed, especially considering my financial
circumstances at the time (I did not have the
money!).
Over
much of that period I wondered what would happen
if I could provide a short cut learning method
to my new associates. So I looked and looked
for a teacher that was providing a basics to
intermediate Internet Marketing skills training,
at an affordable price.
What
did I find? More e-books, very expensive seminars,
more e-books, more expensive seminars, and more
e-books. I was luckier than most you see. I came
into this arena with 20+ years of computer programming
experience, including web programming. Yet it
still took me over a month just to figure out
the basics, and through expensive trial and
error, create viable targeted campaigns.
Pay
Per Click Advertising, in all it's power and
accessibility had proven to be difficult to duplicate
by most of my associates. That's why, in the
world of Internet Marketing, there are the "have's" and the "have more's" and the "have a lot more's",
and then everyone else.
The
top earners in almost all Home Businesses are the
ones that can market effectively on the Internet.
It's a fact of modern life. Offline advertising
is effective, yet in most cases it takes months
before producing enough leads to build a Big business.
The Internet is the fastest way to get your message
out to the masses quickly.
The
last program I was in was a pure 2 up program.
One thing my mentor encouraged me to do, or I
should say "not" to do was teach people
how to market on Google. His perspective was
that having more people advertising
on the Internet would increase competition, and
drive our collective costs up (those few of us
that actually knew what we were doing).
So we agreed that the better alternative was
to create lead generation co-opts so associates
could have access to high quality leads, but
would not be out there mucking up the waters
for those of us that spent the time and money
to learn the technology.
In
the 2 Up programs, you only make money while
your customers are qualifying, and then they
become …. Your competitors. That's right!
Once your customer's qualify all of the way through
the compensation plan, you will never make another
dime on them. This is the most
significant shortcoming of the 2up pay plan in
my opinion. They are pure money hunts. And since
every one of your customers that succeeds becomes
your competitor, why then would you "give" them
your marketing knowledge, your secrets. (This
by the way is true about ALL 2 ups, including
the current programs that claim their product
is all about teaching Internet Marketing. More
on this secret in a minute).
When
the NLA compensation plan was created for LP
Unlimited, it was designed to end that internally
competitive environment as well as produce a
robust income. Our compensation plan was designed
to create a huge incentive to build a team and
the community at large, and that incentive is Huge
Residual Income Potential. By eliminating "passing
up" sales, sharing in all commissions, and
then providing for ongoing earnings as your customer's
succeed, the focus now becomes helping your qualified
customers produce even more sales, because the
more they produce, the less you have to … true
and pure leverage. Yes, passive income is a good
thing, and it is totally missing from the 2up
compensation plan as perpetual referrals do not
happen as claimed.
The
Internet Marketing community is really a fraternity
of the very few that know what they are doing,
that as a policy do not EVER reveal ALL of their
secrets. As a result, you can attend many Internet
Marketing Seminars, and every one of them will
cost you big bucks, and you will STILL not know
what you are doing. Most of the Guru's
are teaching what they used
to do ... not what
they ARE doing now. In some cases this is an
intentional deflection of competition with the
new immerging techniques.
Why
is that? Why would someone who is actually getting
paid to teach you their secrets not deliver on
that promise? Because the teachers don’t
want you to know how it really works. They want
you to have to keep coming back and buying their
half loaded info products, join their membership
programs, and/or purchase the Big Ticket (and
I mean $6,000 and up), private immersion style
trainings where you can really learn what to
do, but still not many secrets.
How
do I know this? …. Because I have done
what I was taught by some of the gurus in the
past. I've been to dozens of seminars, participated
in coaching and hot seat programs, and spent
tens of thousands of dollars on learning the
in's and out's of the Internet … again,
I'm confessing here.
In
December 2006 I held my first Internet Marketing
Emersion Training seminar. I charged $3,000
a seat, and people came ...the weekend before
Christmas at that. Why? Because I revealed all.
I showed this eager audience exactly how to build
effective Google campaigns, develop and write
effective copy, and other important fundamentals
of Internet Marketing. The event lasted over 30
hours, and I hardly scratched the surface. It was
truly a "beginners
Training". I knew though that all it really
takes to generate a steady stream of targeted
leads is a working knowledge and application
of these fundamentals.
